SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WJ Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of RF solutions for the wireless infrastructure and RFID reader markets, continues to respond to market requirements for environmentally-friendly lead-free/green RoHS compliant packaging by announcing today that all SOIC-8 amplifier products in its portfolio are now also available in lead-free form. The lead-free and green part number will end in "G" to signify compliance with Industry Standards. WJ datasheets have been updated to reflect the new part number for each device.
"We are glad to announce that with the introduction of the lead-free SOIC-8 amplifier products, we can now essentially offer the entire WJ product portfolio in lead-free packages. This is key as major customers, especially in Europe and Japan, aggressively migrate their designs to environmentally-friendly green products," said Ron Buswell, senior vice president of marketing and product line management for WJ Communications. "WJ has successfully achieved lead-free with more than 98% of its products in packages such as our QFN 6x6mm, SOT-89, SOT-86 and SOT-363 packages. This is just one of the many environmental activities that represent WJ's company-wide commitment to environmental protection, while continuously providing high performance and low-cost RF semiconductors for the wireless infrastructure market."
All WJ lead-free products are also RoHS compliant; green products are lead-free, RoHS compliant, and have limitations on other specific chemicals as well as being backward compatible with lead-based SMT processing. All of WJ's lead-free products will meet the requirements of the European Union to minimize hazardous substances throughout the electronics industry.
The SOIC-8 package has been lead-free/Green/RoHS qualified to a maximum reflow profile temperature of 260 degrees C and the MSL rating at this reflow profile is level 3. The lead finish is Nickel Palladium and Gold (NiPdAu).

All devices in the lead-free SOIC-8 packaging are available for immediate shipment. Sample quantities are available now and can be requested directly from the WJ web site (www.wj.com).
