ENERGY STAR® is a voluntary partnership among the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, over 1,000 product manufacturers, 62 local utilities, and 25 retailers. ENERGY STAR®-labeled products use less energy than other products. ENERGY STAR® labels have been placed on products in more than 30 categories, including: Household Appliances, Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs, Home Electronics, Office Equipment, Heating and Cooling Products, Homes, Windows, Residential Lighting Fixtures, Transformers, Roof Products, and Insulation; the labelling of other product types is underway. A listing of labelled products is on the Energy Star web site. Nearly 7,000 product models have received the Energy Star label. The label has also been adopted by Japan, New Zealand, and Sweden.
